"So I got a pregnancy test … and uhhhhh well … I am having a baby."

In case you missed it, Britney Spears has revealed that she is expecting her first child with fiancé Sam Asghari.

The pop star revealed the joyous news on Instagram on Monday evening, sparking a flurry of response from her fans and those who have been closely following her life since the 13-year conservatorship came to light.

Britney wrote: "So I got a pregnancy test … and uhhhhh well … I am having a baby. [...] It’s growing !!! If 2 are in there … I might just lose it."

She also wrote that during one of her previous pregnancies she suffered from "perinatal depression", which was "absolutely horrible".

She continued: "Women didn’t talk about it back then … some people considered it dangerous if a woman complained like that with a baby inside her … but now women talk about it everyday … thank Jesus we don’t have to keep that pain a reserved proper secret.

"This time I will be doing yoga every day !!! Spreading lots of joy and love !!!"

The 40-year-old already has two teenage sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, with her former husband Kevin Federline.

Late last year, her father's conservatorship was ended. Spears revealed during a court appearance that because of this, she was legally prevented from marrying or removing her birth control. She stated that she had wanted to start a family with her boyfriend at the time, 28-year-old Asghari.

There have been many well-wishers for Britney since she announced she is expecting, from Paris Hilton to Iggy Azalea and Spotify.
