Warren Gatland has made five changes to the British & Irish Lions team to face Australia in the second test this Saturday at 11.05am (Irish time).

Of the changes, two are enforced with England lock Geoff Parling brought into the team to replace Ireland's goliath Paul O'Connell who broke his arm in the first test against Australia - and, of course, finished the match. The other injury replacement sees England's inexperienced man-mountain of a prop Mako Vunipola comes in for his compatriot Alex Corbisiero.

The other changes are where you can see Gatland really playing his hand. One of last week's try scorers, giant winger Alex Cuthbert, has been dropped in place of Tommy Bowe after the Ulsterman miraculously recovered from a broken bone in his hand.

Wales' Dan Lydiate comes into the side to beef up the physicality at maul time in place of Tom Croft but the most surprising omission is Mike Phillips dropping out of the 22 entirely, replaced in the starting line-up up England's Ben Youngs. Conor Murray has been promoted to deputy scrumhalf.

If the Lions are victorious in Melbourne it will be the first tour victory from the Northern Hemisphere side since 1997 and Gatland has his troops prepared for what will be an unrelenting assault from the home side.

"This is a do-or-die match for Australia", the Lions head coach said in a press conference this week. " It is going to be a real battle out there and we have decided to add a bit more physicality to our side".

"I don't know about not changing a winning side; it is about picking the best team to do the job for us. he last thing we want to do is think about it being 1-1 and having to play another game in Sydney. Everything for us is about Saturday night."
