And it's a boy!

Kate Middleton delivered the future King of England today at 4.24pm. The medical staff have reported that it was a natural birth and that mother and child are doing very well. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's son weighed 8 pounds 6 ounces, and a name will be released at a later date, but when it is, he will be called HRH Prince (we're hedging our bets on a George), Prince of Cambridge.

The Queen was informed first, followed by Prince Charles, Prince Harry and the Middleton family and extended royalty. Prince William was present for the birth. The press were informed via email from Kensington Palace shortly after 8pm this evening, with a plaque confirming the birth placed in the courtyard of Buckingham Palace at around 8.30pm.

More as we get it.
