All in all, this year's Academy Awards was a rather uneventful night for Hollywood's biggest movies of the past year.

This year's Academy Awards did their best, but it still felt a little stale. In the case it of it being a dull enough affair, there's always one thing that is certain - the best tweets of Oscars 2021 will be our saving grace. Providing much-needed light-heartedness during a mostly tedious ceremony is the highlight of the night.

In case you missed it, 'Nomadland' was the biggest winner this year, winning Best Picture, Best Actress for Frances McDormand, and Best Director for Chloé Zhao.

The biggest upset of the night came as the ceremony drew to a close with Anthony Hopkins winning Best Actor for 'The Father'. A spot usually kept for Best Picture, the moment acted as an anti-climactic mess with Hopkins not being present to accept his award (and many were expecting the late Chadwick Boseman to claim a posthumous win).

There were also wins on the night for 'Promising Young Woman', 'Soul', 'Judas and the Black Messiah', and 'Mank'. Netflix walked away as the studio with the most award wins on the night, with a total of seven Oscars.

Here's a collection of the best tweets from Oscars 2021. We can always rely on hilarious memes in the face of a flat ceremony.
