It's Batdog, in a very literal way.

The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) baseball tournament is a competition at the collegiate level in the United States, and it doesn't have as big an audience as the highest level, the MLB. That might be about to change however after it turns out that the ACC has come up with a brilliant innovation: the introduction of a dog who fetches the bats after the players have made their run for the bases. Literally, a Batdog.

Apparently, the dog is called Miss Babe, and she works more or less full time for the Greensboro Grasshopers, a Single-A club (a few steps below the big leagues) and was only moonlighting at the ACC tournament for the craic.

If this isn't a way to guarantee a higher audience, then we don't know what will. Although people love cats, so if they can get a cat involved too that would help.
