So yesterday it was all about the ladies at the Galway Races. Were you there? Did you have fun? Send us a pic of you in your gladrags and we'll shtick it on the oul Facebook machine ([email protected]). As one of the most significant days when it comes to Irish fashion, we can now have a gander at the girl who scooped the coveted title of Anthony Ryan’s Best Dressed Lady at the Galway Races - Kelli O'Dell - and the winner of Anthony Ryan's Best Hat Competition - Aisling Ahern.

The competition is judged by a panel of esteemed fashionistas among which former Miss World Rosanna Davison and Bairbre Power of the Irish Independent were included.

Sporting a a hat that tilts upwards with striking burnt orange bow, what's most inspiring about Aisling Ahern's win is that she made this headpiece herself. Aisling is a a young emerging milliner from Roscommon who creates pieces of solid structure and striking form informed from her architecture studies. Aisling's creations can be seen and purchased at Om Diva in Dublin.

Meanwhile 22 year old Kelli O'Dell opts for an "Anaessia" black lace ensemble, complete with a champagne underlay and a butterfly broach. O'Dell completes her look with Toni Bianco shoes and her Granny's black gloves. Nothing like a bit of genuine vintage to help you stand out from the crowd. Kelli is a student from New-South Wales Australia and has won herself a one carat diamond solitaire pendant valued at €8,000, a shopping spree worth €1500 in Anthony Ryans (that's in Galway) and €1000 cash. On top of that, she'll also take home a Lancôme Presentation Gift Hamper worth over €600. OK now I know why people take this competition so seriously.

We're not quite sure what to make of either winning look so we'll leave the judging to you guys. Share your thoughts in the comments below while we listen to Flight of the Conchord's homage to all the world's lovely ladies...
