One was hoping to avoid making reference to Amy Winehouse inaugurating herself into the 'Rock Star Dies at 27' club, but that's the stuff of whimsy and denial...
As ever, after a young person passes over, the masses want details - they don't like admitting they do, but they do, and invariably everyone has a theory. Here's Blake Fielder-Civil's current girlfriend, Sarah Aspin's offering, which involves Blake's refusal to let Amy visit him in prison (thanks to "burglary and possession of an imitation firearm").
"Blake had never said no to her before. It's an awful thought, but I fear that may have been the moment she realised he and her would never be. I'd hate to think that somehow caused her to fall but it is possible. All he ever wanted her to be was happy and well, but he'd realised she probably wouldn't achieve that happiness with him as a partner. They were two addicts. There was a lot of co-dependency and little way out. I'm not so convinced that Amy thought the same way."
Wow, Sarah is actually speaking a modicum of sense for someone who managed to get themselves knocked up by the likes of Blake Fielder-Civil before he got shipped off to the clink...
In related happenings, Mitch Winehouse has been all over Sky News in his quest to get MPs to address the lack of rehab centres for teenagers. That is commendable. Let's just hope he doesn't go sully it all by then announcing his plans to release a jazz album where he sings Amy's back catalogue, before going on tour... stranger things have happened.
