Listen closely... Do you hear that? Those with ears sensitive enough might just hear the collective sighs of relief which are emanating from the UK this morning with the news that British music's most glamourous and wholesome couple are getting back together. Yes, Amy Winehouse and her estranged husband Blake Fielder-Civil look to have reconciled. Phew!
According to the News of the World, Amy phoned up Blake during the week and spoke to him for the *gasp* first time in five months, asking for a reconciliation. Fielder-Civil responded, also through the News of the World, in a positive manner saying "I love her as much as ever. I know she still loves me, even though we're getting divorced".
We must also take this opportunity to recognise the role of the noble News of the World in this matter, acting as the middle man, ferrying messages back and forth between the two parties with no regard for personal gain or profit. Kudos to you, selfless tabloid.
Is anyone else waiting for the third act of this movie where the doe-eyed lovers finally get back together and kiss as the music swells and the camera pans back......(and they celebrate by breaking out the crack pipe?) Frank Capra it ain't.
