About six minutes after Christmas ended, Creme Eggs appeared on the supermarket and newsagent shelves (well more accurately the little area where they have sweets by the tills) but not as we know them.

It seems that there has been a change to the classic recipe, and the people are not best amused by this tinkering with their beloved eggs. The chocolate used this time around is not the tried and tested Dairy Milk, that egg lovers have come to expect, but rather a new formula that is slightly different.

Speaking to The Sun, a representative from Kraft (who bought Cadbury back in 2010) said "it's no longer Dairy Milk. It's similar, but not exactly Dairy Milk. We tested the new one with consumers. It was found to be the best one for the Creme Egg, which is why we've used it this year".

If you can possibly imagine it, the internet has been awash with people who are outraged (unbelievable, we know) at the change in recipe, and also feeling aggrieved that the multipack that once contained 6 eggs now only contains 5, even Ellie Goulding.

Much of the Monday Morning work for the people in charge of the Cadbury Twitter and social media has been responding to those people to give a justification as to why there have been all these changes, and they have a lot of work to do, as some people were also claiming that the eggs were now also smaller, something which they refute totally.

For their part, Cadbury have stated that the problem is rising commodity costs, which have lead to the changes in the recipe and the decreased size of the multipack. in fairness, having a six pack is a lot of hard work.
