All the stints in the gym, not to mention the years dedicated to tanning wizardry and the maintaining his golden locks have paid off - Alan Hughes is being taken up the aisle by his long term love.
The following comes from TV3's press juggernaut: "TV3 would like to announce that Ireland AM presenter Alan Hughes has announced his engagement to his long term partner Karl Broderick. Alan and Karl have been together for 17 years. Karl popped the question last weekend and both he and Alan are delighted that the laws in Ireland now allow them to be recognised as partners. No date has been set yet for the ceremony but Alan looks forward to celebrating the day with family, friends and TV3 colleagues. Ireland AM has been inundated with congratulations and well wishes from viewers."
