The 'Yellowstone' prequel series begins on Paramount+ next month.

Ready the horses, folks, there's a fresh 'Yellowstone' series incoming. Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford star in '1923', the 'Yellowstone' prequel series set nearly 100 years before any of the action of the original Kevin Costner-led Western drama series.

'1923' will follow the origin story of the Dutton family, described in the trailer below as always being haunted by violence - "from the Scottish highlands and the slums of Dublin".

Mirren and Ford will play founding Dutton family members Cara and Jacob, whose actions will directly impact how the family's story plays out all those years later. Although it's set around 100 years ago, expect there to be direct allusions to living in the present-day mountain west of Montana, as the series will explore the early twentieth century when pandemics, historic drought, the end of Prohibition and the Great Depression.

Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford shot the series earlier this year, starring as Kevin Costner's on-screen grandparents. This is actually Ford's very first regular scripted TV show role, while Mirren has been known to dabble in TV drama from time to time. A second season is believed to be in the pipeline, should the first season prove to be a success.

'1923' also stars Darren Mann ('Animal Kingdom'), Michelle Randolph ('A Snow White Christmas'), James Badge Dale ('Hightown'), Marley Shelton ('Scream'), Brian Geraghty ('Big Sky'), Aminah Nieves ('Blueberry') and Jerome Flynn (Bronn from 'Game of Thrones').

'1923' isn't the first 'Yellowstone' spin-off series to hit Paramount+ - '1883' starring Sam Elliott serving as the initial expansion of the franchise and was released last year. Another series will expand on the franchise, '6666', which will release in the new year and is also set in the present day.

Here's the official trailer for '1923'.

'1923' begins on Paramount+ on Monday, December 19.
