Netflix's latest drama offering looks set to be an emotional rollercoaster of a film.

'The Starling' sees Chris O'Dowd and Melissa McCarthy play a pair of grieving parents in the first look at the forthcoming drama/comedy.

As you can see in the trailer below, after the couple suffers a horrific family loss, they both battle with their demons in order to get themselves back on track. While Jack (O'Dowd) checks himself into a mental health facility, Lilly (McCarthy) must attempt to go about her day as normal, working in a supermarket while also dealing with a territorial bird (a starling) in her garden.

Lilly eventually gets some help from Larry (Kevin Kline), who is a former psychologist - but he's since turned his hand at being a veterinarian.

Also joining the impressive cast of 'The Starling' will be Timothy Olyphant, Daveed Diggs, Skyler Gisondo and Loretta Devine. Theodore Melfi of 'Hidden Figures' and 'St. Vincent' fame has directed the movie.

This will be Chris O'Dowd and Melissa McCarthy's third movie collaboration. The actors previously worked together on 'Bridesmaids' with Kristen Wiig, as well as Melfi's 'St. Vincent' with Bill Murray and Naomi Watts.

Here's the trailer.

In terms of what's on the horizon for both actors, O'Dowd has been announced as part of the cast of Netflix's 'Slumberland', which is based on a comic book action series and will feature Jason Mamoa. McCarthy currently has a new Amazon Prime series out, 'Nine Perfect Strangers', and she is also set to appear in 'Thor: Love and Thunder'.

'The Starling' arrives on Netflix on September 24.
