New York Times best-selling author William Gibson has released the official teaser trailer for the Prime Video upcoming sci-fi drama series 'The Peripheral'.

'The Peripheral' centres on Flynne Fisher (Chloë Grace Moretz), a woman trying to hold together the pieces of her broken family in a forgotten corner of tomorrow's America. Flynne is smart, ambitious, and doomed. She has no future; until the future comes calling for her.

'The Peripheral' is master storyteller William Gibson’s dazzling, hallucinatory glimpse into the fate of mankind—and what lies beyond.

The series stars Moretz alongside Irish actor Jack Reynor, Gary Carr, Eli Goree, Louis Herthum and JJ Feild.

T’Nia Miller, Charlotte Riley, Alexandra Billings, Adelind Horan, Alex Hernandez, Katie Leung, Julian Moore-Cook, Melinda Page Hamilton, Chris Coy and Austin Rising also star.

The trailer shows Moretz trying on what looks like a weird VR headset. However, the device takes her forward 70 years to a futuristic London. From there we see disappearing cars, giant statues and robot butlers. Y'know, classic sci-fi stuff.

The first episode will premiere on Prime Video on October 21. Then one new episode rolls out weekly every Friday. The series will be available in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

The series is produced by Amazon Studios and Warner Bros Television, in association with Kilter Films. Executive producers are creator and showrunner Scott B. Smith ('A Simple Plan'), director Vincenzo Natali ('In the Tall Grass'), Greg Plageman ('Person of Interest'), Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy ('Westworld'), Athena Wickham ('Westworld') and Steven Hoban ('In the Tall Grass').
