The Disney+ series is gearing up to shed light on a part of the 'Star Wars' canon that was referenced to in the original movie trilogy.

The newest 'The Book of Boba Fett' trailer has 'Star Wars' fans in a frenzy due to a three-second scene that occurs. Practically the only bit of new footage shown, it's enough to get the speculative juices flowing.

Later this month, Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen will reprise their roles as Boba Fett and Fennec Shand for the first Disney+ spin-off from 'The Mandalorian'. Set to be much darker in tone than its predecessor, 'The Book of Boba Fett' has fans eagerly anticipated to see what story about the legendary bounty hunter will be told.

And now thanks to the latest trailer, we've got a much better idea of what to expect.

A brief moment during the trailer teases Boba Fett escaping from a facility, wearing a jumpsuit that has fresh scorch marks all over it. This scene has fans wondering if it shows the bounty hunter managing to escape from the nasty Sarlacc Pit seen in 'The Return of the Jedi'.

In the 1983 theatrical release, Boba Fett appeared to die in the battle to free Han Solo from Jabba The Hutt, falling into the pit and apparently being eaten by the sand monster, thanks to a joint effort from Luke Skywalker and Hal Solo.

Fans have been making up theories as to how the bounty hunter managed to escape his death, with the non-canon 'Star Wars' Expanded Universe being the first to pull him out of the pit. While it's yet uncertain whether this is indeed a reference to his escape from the Sarlacc Pit, it seems like fans of the franchise are certain this is what's about to unfold.

Made up of seven episodes, 'The Book of Boba Fett' is expected to delve even deeper into the 'Star Wars' lore than even 'The Mandalorian' has thus far.

Here's the new trailer featuring Boba Fett and the potential 'Star Wars' Easter Egg, which happens around 45 seconds in.

'The Book of Boba Fett' begins on Disney+ on December 29.
