Steve Carell's 'Space Force' series, a satirical version of Donald Trump's idea to have a team in space as the sixth form of military service, is just around the corner from release on Netflix.
Starring Ben Schwartz (the voice of 'Sonic' from the recently released movie, and Jean-Ralphio from 'Parks and Recreation'), and John Malkovich, the comedy series is created by Steve Carell and Greg Daniels. The pair previously worked together on 'The Office US', so if 'Space Force' is half as good as its predecessor, we're in for a treat.
According to the 'You Made It Weird' podcast with Pete Holmes, Ben Swartz made an appearance (via Zoom) where he spilled the beans that 'Space Force' will be arriving on Netflix this May. Hopefully this includes a worldwide release and we'll be able to watch the series over here too, and not just in the states. Generally, Netflix originals launch globally, so it's looking highly likely.
Steve Carell's 'Space Force' was announced in 2019, following Trump's team of space military being announced (whose logo bears a striking resemblance to the Starfleet Command from 'Star Trek'). Although Carell doesn't star in the series, he has served as executive producer and series writer alongside Daniels. We're hoping if the series takes off that Carell will make a cameo appearance down the line.
Interestingly, if you want to listen to the full podcast mentioned above, Swartz also spoke of a time that he got drunk in Ireland when he was younger for a semester abroad.
Expect a trailer for 'Space Force' on Netflix to arrive very soon, as it is expected to land on the streaming service May 31.
