The 'Grey's Anatomy' and 'Scandal' creator is bringing us a new miniseries based on the real story of a con artist who faked her identity as an heiress.

Adapted from "How an Aspiring 'It' Girl Tricked New York’s Party People—and Its Banks," Jessica Pressler’s New York magazine investigation into the subject, Inventing Anna will tell the tale of Anna Sorokin, who became Anna Delvey, the fake heiress.

Sorokin befriended a group of socialites, flew them to Morocco, and left them to pay the $7,000-a-night bill. She also conned the staff at 11 Howard hotel in New York’s SoHo neighbourhood into believing she could afford to live there. She was also adept at sneaking her way into fashion shows and art parties.

Sorokin was convicted of multiple counts of attempted grand larceny, larceny in the second degree, and theft of services. She was released from prison earlier this year.

The show stars 'Ozark's Julie Garner in the lead role. Anna Chlumsky ('Veep'), Laverne Cox ('Orange is the New Black'), Anders Holme ('Workaholics') and Katie Lowes (Scandal) also star.

Chlumsky plays the journalist who breaks the story. Cox, Lowes, and Floyd play a few of Delvey’s conned pals.

'Inventing Anna' premieres on Netflix on February 11, 2022. Watch the trailer below.
