The star-studded cast for 'Ratched' has been released.

Ryan Murphy, who you'll know from creating 'American Horror Story' and 'Nip/Tuck' will be launching his first series on Netflix later this year. 'Ratched' will act as a prequel series to Ken Kesey's infamous novel 'One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest.'

The primary filming of the series is due to begin in a couple of weeks time, and includes a stellar cast. As well as Sharon Stone and Cynthia Nixon being part of the cast, Sarah Paulson will also be reuniting with Murphy to play the title role of Nurse Ratched, as well as acting as Producer.

There will also be roles played by Jon Jon Briones from 'Sons of Anarchy'; Charlie Carver from 'The Leftovers'; Judy Davis from 'Feud'; Amanda Plummer from 'Pulp Fiction'; and Finn Wittrock also from 'American Horror Story'.

Not only that, Michael Douglas, who produced the 'Cuckoo's Nest' 1975 film, will act as an executive producer on this series too.

Murphy revealed the line-up on his Instagram page, saying they contain "a true murderers’ row of talent. [...] Sarah, Cynthia, Judy, Amanda and Sharon, all doing scenes together? I cannot WAIT."

'Ratched' has been given a two-season 18-episode order by Netflix. It's expected to launch on the streaming service later this year.

The prequel series will be set in 1947, and will act as an origin story for Nurse Ratched. We'll witness her journey from a nurse to a cold-hearted monster. Louise Fletcher previously played the role in the 1975 movie.
