There will be at least two new additions to the crime/comedy series for its sophomore season.

'Only Murders In The Building' season two has added two acting heavyweights into the mix for its season return. The iconic Shirley MacLaine and the comedic timings of Amy Schumer will flesh out the continuation of Hulu's whodunnit.

Executive producer and star of season one, Martin Short, revealed both names in an interview this week. He said to Deadline: "Before Christmas, [I shot scenes with] Shirley MacLaine and Amy Schumer. The quality of actor that this show is attracting makes it endlessly fun to go to work."

Just yesterday, both Short and co-creator of the series, Steve Martin, earned themselves Lead Actor in a Comedy Series nominations for this year's SAG Awards. The first season was also nominated for Best Comedy Series Ensemble.

Short revealed that the first two episodes of season two were shot before Christmas, with episodes three and four currently being filmed. He adds that he is "thrilled and honoured" to have received a nomination, explaining why he thinks the show has been so successful: "Steve and I have a long history and Selena is a brilliant addition to the show, but then what fuels it is this compelling whodunnit.

"You have the two going on at the same time and then you add the obsession with podcasts. I think all the stars lined up in the right direction to make this something that people wanted to see, and enjoyed seeing, and kept wanting to see, for the comedy and also the mystery of it."

The comedic caper, which also starred Selena Gomez in a central role, had a strong cast of guest stars dotted along its 10-episode first season. Tina Fey, Amy Ryan, Sting, Jane Lynch and Jimmy Fallon all featured, and word is that Nathan Lane will also return for 'Only Murders In The Building' season two as frenemy Teddy Dimas.

Cara Delevingne was another recent addition to the series, who will join as a series regular named Alice. Shirley MacLaine and Amy Schumer are expected to join the cast as guest stars.
