Netflix has been showering us in delightful rom-coms over the last year or two, but they are very much getting real in their upcoming offering 'Marriage Story'.

Written and Directed by Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Noah Baumbach ('Francis Ha', 'The Meyerowitz Stories'), 'Marriage Story' is set to be an incisive and compassionate portrait of a marriage breaking up and a family staying together.

Baumbach describes 'Marriage Story' as "a love story that reveals itself within the breakdown".

"With these companion trailers I wanted to show the relationship through the eyes of both characters. There are many sides to every story, and the movie embraces these different viewpoints in order to find the shared truth."

The film stars Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver as married couple Nicole and Charlie while  Laura Dern, Alan Alda, and Ray Liotta co-star.

The trailer below is enough to guarantee this movie experience is going to require a lot of tissues. It also has a major 'Blue Valentine' vibe to it, that utterly depressing Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams flick from 2010.

'Marriage Story' is in Irish Cinemas from 15 November and available globally on Netflix 6 December.
