Only announced earlier this month, the prequel to 'Army of the Dead' is much further along the production line than we anticipated.

The first 'Army of Thieves' trailer is here, only weeks after being announced. It's also only two months after the arrival of the movie on which it is based.

Billed as a prequel movie to Zack Snyder's 'Army of the Dead', this time around the action will focus on Matthias Schweighöfer's safe-cracking character Ludwig Dieter. We will follow his character on a different escapade this time around, as he and his new espionage group attempt to crack safes all across Europe.

The heist movie will also star 'Game of Thrones' and 'Fast & Furious' actor Nathalie Emmanuel, who will play Dieter's love interest, Gwendoline. Ruby O. Fee, Stuart Martin, Guz Khan, and Jonathan Cohen will also have roles in the film as the merry team desperate to loot some safes while a zombie outbreak happens across the world.

Zack Synder is taking a back seat on this production, taking up a producer role. Schweighöfer will both act and direct the story which is based on Snyder and Shay Hatten's story.

'Army of the Dead' was a huge success for Netflix, leading it to become one of the streamers most-watched original movies of all time. Naturally, this then leads to Snyder entering a deal with Netflix, and he has since signed a two-year deal with the platform, promising more "edgier" content like these two releases.

Here's the 'Army of Thieves' trailer.

'Army of Thieves' will arrive on Netflix this Autumn.
