Well, Hollywood has certainly tapped into the star-studded whodunnit genre in recent memory, and a previous title you might have forgotten about is its return to Netflix boasting a fine line-up. 'Murder Mystery 2' starring Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler has added eight new faces into the mix.

The first 'Murder Mystery' hit Netflix in 2019. While it wasn't groundbreaking (we said it was "another wasted 90-odd minutes of your time"), the title proved to be a sure-fit hit for the streamer. At the time it was one of their most successful original movies ever.

And so, part two of the married couple and their European crime-filled vacation will see them be joined by Mark Strong ('Kingsman', 'Cruella'), Jodie Turner-Smith ('Queen & Slim', 'Nightflyers'), Mélanie Laurent ('Inglorious Basterds', 'Oxygen'), Kuhoo Verma ('The Big Sick'), Enrique Arce ('Money Heist'), Tony Goldwyn ('Scandal', 'Ghost'), Annie Mumolo ('Barb And Star Go To Vista Del Mar') and Zurin Villanueva ('Insatiable').

Adeel Akhtar will also return for 'Murder Mystery 2', reprising his character Maharajah, as will John Kani as Colonel Ulenga. Jeremy Garelick, who directed Kevin Hart and Josh Gad in 'The Wedding Ringer', is on board to direct. Both Aniston and Sandler will once again produce.

It seems that the sequel film will be skipping out on Europe this time, with filming currently underway in Hawaii. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the first film saw Aniston and Sandler star as Audrey and Nick Spitz be wrongfully framed for the murder of a billionaire (played by Terence Stamp).

Another recent whodunnit that was filmed in Hawaii was HBO's 'The White Lotus' TV series. It seems that ever since Kenneth Branagh's 'Murder On The Orient Express' (or possibly Daniel Craig's 'Knives Out'), there has been a huge surge in Hollywood dishing out titles in the same vein. Another similar TV series, 'The Afterparty', hits Apple TV+ this Friday, starring Tiffany Haddish and Dave Franco.
