Last week we got our first glimpse of what to expect from 'The Guilty' with a teaser trailer featuring Jake Gyllenhaal's calming voice as a 911 call operator. This week, we've got our first proper look at the Netflix thriller, and it looks like it's going to be one intense viewing experience.
From the new trailer which you can see below, Gyllenhaal plays Joe Baylor, a 911 call operator who picks up a strange phone call from an anonymous and rather distressed caller. Just before he is about to hang up the line, he discovers that the woman appears to have been abducted, which begins his attempt to track her and her kidnapper down.
'The Guilty' is a US remake of a Danish crime-thriller of the same name, which earned high praise from critics after its release in 2018; the film stars Jakob Cedergren and has earned itself a 97% critics approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Jake Gyllenhaal's remake boasts an impressive cast - but due to the nature of the film, it's unknown whether all of them will appear on screen, or if only their voices will be heard.
Elvis Presley's granddaughter, Riley Keough, can be heard as the abductee, while Ethan Hawke, Bill Burr, Peter Sarsgaard, Paul Dano, Da'Vine Joy Randolph and Beau Knapp will all feature in some capacity.
Antoine Fuqua ('Training Day') directed the thriller, with Gyllenhaal and Nic Pizzolatto ('True Detective') on board as producers.
'The Guilty' will hit select theatres this September, followed by its Netflix release on October 1.
