Indira Varma is joining the Obi-Wan Kenobi series that is in the works for Disney+, Deadline reports.

Varma is best-known for playing Ellaria Sand in 'Game of Thrones'. Her other credits include 'Carnival Row', 'For Life', 'Rome', and 'Exodus: Gods and Kings.'

It was previously confirmed that Ewan McGregor will be reprising his role as Obi-Wan from the 'Star Wars' prequel movies.

Hayden Christensen is back too in the role of Anakin Skywalker aka Darth Vader.

There have been no details revealed about the character Indira Varma is playing.

Plot details for the series more generally are also under wraps for now.

What we do know is that the show is set between 'Star Wars' movies 'Revenge of the Sith' and 'A New Hope'.

Deborah Chow, who helmed two episodes in the first series of 'The Mandalorian', is directing.

The series is utilising StageCraft tech, the same technology as 'The Mandalorian', which gives the show detailed SFX backgrounds which are projected onto ultra-high resolution screens behind the actors.

According to reports, it starts filming this spring.

Other 'Star Wars' characters getting their own series include Ahsoka Tano, Lando Calrissian, and Cassian Andor.
