Just as the songs have started to exit from our collective heads, Disney+ have announced that a new sing-along version of 'Encanto' is on its way this Friday.
Among the many catchy tunes from the relatable Madrigal family is the massive hit 'We Don't Talk About Bruno'. The song, one of the seven that Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote for the film, became the longest-reigning chart-topper for Disney in US Billboard Hot 100 history.
It also became the first ever Disney song to reach number one in the Irish charts last month.
The song's popularity on TikTok has contributed massively to its success. It currently holds around 93 million streams globally.
According to Disney, households have, on average, been watching 'Encanto' five times, with over 180 million re-watches worldwide since it hit the platform at Christmas 2021. That number will undoubtedly rise now with the introduction of the new version.
'Encanto' follows the Madrigal family, who live in an enchanted home in the mountains of Columbia. Each child in the house is bestowed with a magical ability once they come of age. That is except for Mirabel, who tries to help around as much as possible, though she is ordinary. When the magic of their home comes under threat, Mirabel takes it upon herself to save the day.
Luckily for fans, 'Encanto' won't be the only film to receive a sing-along version. 'Frozen,' 'Frozen 2,' 'Beauty and the Beast' and, for some reason, 2017’s live-action 'Beauty and the Beast' remake will also be getting in on the act in the future.
'Encanto' is currently up for three Academy Awards on March 27. It's in the running for Best Animated Feature, Best Original Score and Best Original Song (“Dos Oruguitas”).
