Disney have theme parks, hit franchises, merchandise and musicals, but one thing eluded them until now: a number one hit single in the Irish charts.

The House of Mouse have finally hit the top of the charts in Ireland, with help from the man of the moment, Lin-Manuel Miranda.

'We Don't Talk About Bruno' is the breakout hit from the latest Pixar film 'Encanto', with the song already claiming the number one slot in the United States and the United Kingdom.

The song dethroned the reigning number one, 'ABCEDFU' from teen star Gayle to cement 'Encanto's cultural domination.

Previous Disney songs were hits on the charts in recent years with the likes of 'Let It Go', 'How Far I'll Go' springing to mind, but a number one slot eluded them.

'We Don't Talk About Bruno' and its rise up the charts has come as a surprise to even Disney itself - the company reportedly didn't put the song forward for the Academy Award for Best Original Song.

The song has gone viral on TikTok in recent weeks, in large part to the film being made available to all Disney Plus users in late December coinciding with the song rocketing up the charts.

Since being uploaded onto YouTube in late December, the video has already amassed 175 million views.

Lin-Manuel Miranda has become one of the most successful musical lyricists of his generation thanks to his work on 'Hamilton' and 'In The Heights', with his directorial work on 'Tick, Tick... Boom!' on Netflix also receiving high praise.

Other songs from the 'Encanto' soundtrack have found their way onto the Irish charts, with 'Surface Pressure' making its way to number 8 and 'The Family Madrigal' climbing up to number 19.

Encanto is now streaming on Disney+.
