Earlier in the week, Deadline revealed that the actor, cast way back in the original film, will not reprise his role for season two of the series.
It came at the same time of news about the triggering of vaccine mandates on set, which sparked rumours that Estevez was not willing to comply.
However, Estevez has since released a statement to clear up any confusion about his withdrawal from the show.
In his response, he says his exit was, "nothing more than a good old fashioned contract dispute". He also cites "a myriad of creative differences."
He also tried to clear up his stance on COVID, sharing his experience with the virus.
"I am not anti-vaxx. Full stop. I take this pandemic very seriously, and I am often teased about my continued following of the safety protocols and my abundance of caution.
"In the final analysis, this was nothing more than a good old fashioned contract dispute and not, as some would believe an anti-vaccine position.
While I can’t speak for anyone else in regards to this polarizing, sensitive issue, I have my own lived experience."
The actor went on to talk about his experiences with "Long Haul Syndrome" after contracting the virus in March 2020.
He reluctantly returned to work and kept his health struggles under wraps.
"In retrospect, I wrongly chose to protect the show over being transparent about having contracted Covid-19. I may have provided another public example to wit, how we are all vulnerable to this deadly disease."

'The Mighty Ducks: Gamechangers' premiered on Disney+ earlier this year as a follow up to the 1992 film 'The Mighty Ducks'. It renewed for a second season in August.
