The lineup of the reboot is giving us hope that it might actually be worthwhile.

The cast of Disney+'s 'Home Alone' reboot is expanding, with the inclusion of two fine members from the 'Saturday Night Live' lineup. Kennan Thompson, who started off on our screens on 'Kenan and Kel', and has been a member of the 'SNL' cast since 2003, will play a main role in the family comedy.

Alongside Thompson will be his 'SNL' alum, Chris Parnell. Parnell joined the comedy sketch show in 1998 and departed in 2006, going on to do voice work on animated comedies 'Archer' and 'Rick and Morty'. With these two actors being cast together, and both of them being comedians, we reckon they will play the rebooted version of the iconic burglar duo Harry and Marv (originally played by Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern).

Comedy Actress Ally Maki has also been cast in the modern adaptation. Maki has previously starred in the comedy series 'Wrecked' with Rhys Darby, and she also provided the voice of Little Bo Peep's miniature friend Giggle McDimples in Pixar's 'Toy Story 4'. Dan Mazer ('Dirty Grandpa', 'Who Is America?') is the director of the reboot.

The actors will join the already cast Ellie Kemper ('The US Office' and 'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt') and Rob Delaney ('Catastrophe' and 'Deadpool 2'), who will play the parents who inevitably leave behind their son (played by the wonderful Archie Yates, the breakout star of 'Jojo Rabbit').

All in all, Disney+'s 'Home Alone' reboot is looking mighty fine. Let's hope it lives up to the hype - it has huge boots to fill. There's been no word on a release date yet, and as it was forced to shut down production earlier this year, it'll likely get a Christmas 2021 release.
