Fans of 'Bridgerton' might only be finishing up season two, but there's another production on the way to get very excited about.
Attention members of the Ton: the Queen Charlotte series on Netflix has found its 'Bridgerton' prequel cast - and there are some returning faces on board.
The untitled production from Shondaland will closely follow Queen Charlotte, serving as a coming-of-age series about her rise to prominence and power during her teenage years. The young Queen married King George, which sparked both a great love story and a societal shift in London.
But who will carry the series as the young Queen? India Ria Amarteifio, who has appeared on the likes of 'Sex Education', 'Doctor Who' and 'Line Of Duty', will lead the series as the regal and quick-witted monarch. However, in the series she will be forced to wed her future husband against her will.
Starring opposite Amarteifio will be Corey Mylchreest, who will play a young King George. The relatively unknown actor will also appear in Netflix's upcoming adaptation of Neil Gaiman's graphic novel 'The Sandman'. King George has only appeared briefly in 'Bridgerton' thus far, due to his worsening health condition.
The wonderful Michelle Fairley from 'Game Of Thrones' and 'Gangs Of London' fame will play Princess Augusta, mother to George, the Dowager Princess who "does what it takes to secure her son’s place as monarch amidst a changing, modernizing Britain".
But that's not all - Golda Rosheuvel will also reprise her 'Bridgerton' role as the reigning Queen, as will her co-stars Adjoa Andoh as Lady Agatha Danbury and Ruth Gemmell as Violet Bridgerton. Lady Danbury will also get a younger version for the series, played by Arsema Thomas.
Rounding out the 'Bridgerton' prequel cast are Sam Clemmett ('Harry Potter And The Cursed Child') as Young Brimsley; Richard Cunningham ('The Witcher') as Lord Bute; with Tunji Kasim ('Nancy Drew'), Rob Maloney ('Casualty'), Cyril Nri ('Cucumber') and Hugh Sachs who returns to play the Queen's overbearing assistant, Brimsley.
Shonda Rhimes is of course on hand as showrunner, writer and executive producer of the prequel series, stemming from her Shondaland production company which created the 'Bridgerton' series for Netflix. The production company and Netflix secured a multi-million dollar deal in 2017, so far delivering many trending productions such as the period drama in question, as well as 'Inventing Anna'. There are also plans for feature films and gaming content in the future.
'Bridgerton' season two debuted on Netflix earlier this month. Seasons three and four are already in the works.
