If you saw the first teaser for the new season of Narcos, you'll have noticed that DEA Agent Steve Murphy - played by Boyd Holbrook - wasn't really all that involved or present in it.

As it turns out, there's a pretty good reason - Boyd Holbrook won't be returning for the third season, according to THR. There's no word yet on precisely why Holbrook's out, but a lot of that may have to do with the fact that the real-life Steve Murphy left Colombia shortly after Pablo Escobar's death, but remained active in the DEA until as recently as two years ago.

Although that's one reason for Murphy being written out of the story, Holbrook's exit probably has a lot to do with him getting more work in films in the past year. He turned up in Logan as one of Richard E. Grant's lead henchman, Pierce, and is among the cast of Shane Black's The Predator, which is due out in August of next year.

In any event, Narcos' third season looks like it's going to be as intense as the second one. It hits Netflix on September 8th.
