It looks like there's going to be quite the wait to see the new Disney+ 'Beauty and the Beast' prequel series.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the live-action musical show is postponed indefinitely due to creative and scheduling issues. The show, greenlit last year, was meant to begin shooting this summer in Europe, but certain creative elements were not yet ready, causing delays.
Bad weather is also said to have been an issue, not fitting the tone of the series.
Given the scheduling issues with the show’s cast as well as weather constraints, it was decided to hold off and revisit the show at a later date.
Evans as Gaston and Josh Gad as LeFou were both returning to the series. Briana Middleton joined the franchise as LeFou's stepsister Tilly.
News also broke just days ago that Rita Ora had joined the series. Irish actor Fra Fee and Broadway's Jelani Alladin also had roles in the show.
Evans confirmed the news on his Twitter page, saying "sometimes the best intentions & reality collide & nothing can be done."
The live-action 'Beauty and the Beast' movie released in 2017, starring Emma Watson and Dan Stevens. It grossed over $1.2 billion worldwide upon its release.
It's unclear if or when the prequel series will get back up and running again but there's hope it can be reignited sometime down the line.
