It's a far cry from what you'd expect, but it has its parallels with the Bond franchise. We guess.

Amazon has wasted no time in revealing its first 'Bond' idea for Prime Video, and it's a reality TV series of all things.

The new owner of MGM, after acquiring the media company for $8.45 billion just last week, only waited a week and a half before greenlighting the production. Although, according to Variety, the project has been in development for around four years already, and "sits separately" to any other future Bond-related creations further down the line.

Entitled '007’s Road To A Million', the show will see Bond fanatics and all-around great explorers navigate their way around locations previously seen in the franchise. The global adventure promises a "cinematic format" that will test contestants' intelligence, endurance and physical strength. The teams of two, should they be crowned the overall winners, will be given a £1 million cash prize for their efforts; they'll just have to solve all of the hidden questions scattered across the world first.

Reckon you have what it takes to win the top prize? Because the casting process has already begun. If you are a UK or Northern Irish resident, the competition is yours for the taking. Oh, and if you win because of us, you owe us at least a year's subscription to Prime Video, alright?

Essentially a Bond-themed version of 'The Amazing Race', there's no doubt that this is very different from what you would expect to be the first production greenlit in light of Amazon's acquisition of MGM. However, as mentioned earlier, other projects are in the pipeline, likely to be revealed in due course.

Last year, producer Barbara Broccoli insisted that Bond would not be turned into a TV series. She said to Total Film: "We make films. We make films for the cinema. That’s what we do."

For now though, one question remains after Daniel Craig bowed out as 007 in 'No Time To Die': Who is going to be his replacement?
