This year will see a new event being staged in the Mindfield area of Electric Picnic - and more specifically, in the Theatre of Food.

'The People's Picnic' will see four of Fáilte Ireland’s food champions, (Jacinta Dalton, Olivia Duff, Patrick Ryan and Niall Sabongi) prepare a communal picnic for festival-goers at 4.30pm on Saturday, September 2nd that promises "a mind-expanding, mind-altering concept of what Irish food is all about."

Each picnicker will receive a hamper filled with "freshly baked breads, meats, cheeses and dips, plus smoked salmon, pâté, fruit, crisps and shortbread all washed down with fiery ginger beer, blood orange lemonade and prosecco as well as a few surprises!"

What's more, the People's Picnic will link live via Periscope with the People's Feast, which will happen simultaneously in Aarhus, Denmark - and both events will be able to chat to each other about their cultural feasts.

Tickets are €20 per person via this link, and the best thing of all is that all proceeds will go to charity partner Jigsaw - the National Centre for Youth Mental Health in Ireland.
