Reports in the tabloids this morning suggest that all four remaining contestants in this season of The X-Factor have recorded a version of Damien Rice's 'Cannonball'. The Damien Rice song is reportedly one of three tunes in contention, according to The Sun anyway, for the eventual X-Factor winner's assault on the Christmas charts.

An interesting choice, it must be said. 'Cannonball' initially appeared in the charts in 2004, peaking at number 19.

Last year's X-Factor winner Matt Cardle covered Biffy Clyro's 'Many of Horro', while the year before Alexandra Burke sang a version of Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah'.
