I love this will it rain/won't it rain/of course it will rain, we're in Ireland and it's March kind of weather, don't you? Believe it or not but I'm not being sarcastic when I say that - these kinds of days are the best days to get out and do something indoorsy and not feel bad about it.

Sure you have to get there and that means getting dressed and that's a hard enough feat when you don't know if it will be too warm for your woolies or too cold for your short jacket, but once you're out and about you're always glad you didn't waste your time cooped up in a room stinking of take-away and, let's admit it, B.O.

So get up and go this weekend - just remember to wear sensible shoes. Here are some ideas for what you fine people can get up to:

Friday, March 21

What? Gig/Clubbing: Prefuse 73
Where? The Sugar Club, Dublin
What time? 10pm
How much? €18.15

Prefuse 73 is an alias used by music producer Guillermo Scott Herren who has been based in Atlanta, Barcelona and New York. Herren first released music under the name Prefuse 73 with 2001's commercially and critically successful 'Vocal Studies + Uprock Narratives'. This gig is definitely where the cool kids will be be Friday night.

What? Play: The Master and Margarita: A Fairy Tale of Dublin
Where? Smock Alley Theatre, Dublin
What time? 7.30pm
How much? €10-€12

Don't feel like going on the lash? Then do yourself a favour and see this. 'A tale of love. A tale of poverty. A tale of madness. A tale of magic.' And thank me later.

What? Magic: Daredevil Magician Visits City Limits
Where? City Limits, Cork
What time? 9pm
How much? €15

Don't skip this show just because that weird masked guy on TV revealed all the magical secrets of the trade. 'Ireland's Houdini' is willing to risk life and limb for his illusions. The Comedy Club say 'Since bursting on the scene a few years ago he has built up a reputation as the most exciting magician in the country, and is a firm favourite on the celebrity circuit.' So there.

Saturday, March 22

What? Play: Conservatory
Where? The Abbey Theatre (Peacock Stage), Dublin
What time? 8pm
How much? €25

Esteemed playwright Michael West returns with this searing and compassionate tale of married life. See it here first and gloat about it in years to come.

What? Gig: God is an Astronaut
Where? Whelan's, Dublin
What time? 8pm
How much? €20

You know Whelan's is going to have something good on on a Saturday night and this night is no exception. GIIA play as part of the iconic Dublin venue's 25th anniversary so it's a show not to ignore. And you can check out either Whelan's Indie Club or the bands playing The Midnight Hour upstairs after the show!

What? Exhibition: Ulrich Vogl
Where? Kevin Kavanagh Gallery, Dublin

Take note that today is the last day you will be able to see this cool exhibition by Ulrich Vogol - of clouds and strings. Visual Artists Ireland say 'like in previous works Vogl uses movement, light and shadow to capture a suspension of reality and space.' Hmm, intriguing.

Sunday, March 23

What? Gig: Doom
Where? The Sugar Club, Dublin
What time? 7.30 pm
How much? €27.50

Now this is one gig, nay, occasion, that has been hotly anticipated since it was first announced. Daniel Dumile is a British born American hip-hop artist who has taken on several stage names in his career, most famously MF DOOM. Mysteriously, little is known about his personal life. He is also renowned for bringing comedy back into the sometimes overly serious world of rap lyrics and a unique, sample-heavy production style. What a way to spend your Sunday!

What? Gig: The Answer
Where? Cyprus Avenue, Cork
What time? 9pm
How much? €15

Rock out to this Northern Irish band on Saturday night who have 'spent the last decade proving their rock 'n' roll credentials and making the kind of life-affirming, eardrum-threatening music that separates the truly great from the merely adequate. Right on!

What? Indoor Market In Aid Of Pieta House
Where? Kelly's Bar, Galway

Going to be wandering around the City of the Tribes this Sunday? Then make sure to pop into this market, organised by five final year students of Event Management and PR at GMIT. It's all in aid of the Tuam Branch of Pieta House and all proceeds raised on the day will be donated to this very worthy cause. So, pop into Kelly’s Warehouse for an extensive range of local traders to include vintage clothing, arts and handcrafted cards, jewellery, candles and much more.
