You may recall that we reported on Jay Z's 6 hour performance of his song 'Picasso Baby' in a New York gallery earlier this month. Well, it turns out the whole thing was filmed for a HBO special which will get its first airing this coming Friday (August 2nd). Check out the trailer above.
The movie, imaginatively titled 'Picasso Baby: A Performance Art Film', documents the rapper's extended performance in New York City's Pace Gallery on July 10th, which was attended by luminaries like actor Alan Cumming, director and producer Judd Apatow and performance artist Marina Abramovic.
Jay Z has managed to stay in the news pretty consistently since his new album Magna Carta Holy Grail dropped earlier this month. First there was the performance art and then, last week, he announced that he was officially dropping the hyphen from his name. Never one to be afraid of a little media attention, we expect we'll be hearing more from HOV's camp before too long.
Jay Z will be in town for a show in The O2 on October 6th as part of his Magna Carta World Tour.
