Their music has been described as 'operatic space rock' in the past, but it seems that description of Muse may have some credence, if Matt Bellamy is to be believed.
The Devon rocker has spoken about his close encounter as a teenager in a new interview with Radio X.
He said that when he was 16 or 17 and driving to his girlfriend's house "in the middle of the woods", he saw a flashing light.
"It was really unusual at that time of night" he said. "I remember just waking up at home, and to this day I don’t quite remember the journey from there home.”
He added: "I don't know if it was a UFO, it might have been a helicopter or something. I was driving so I definitely didn’t drink anything. I’m not suggesting that at all, but I may have smoked something that was grown in Devon.”
