Fans of flame-haired troubadour Ed Sheeran would be advised to keep a close eye on his social media pages after announcing today that he'll play a a trio of secret shows in support of his upcoming new record 'x' (pronounced 'multiply').

As announced on his official Facebook page, Ed will in three as-yet undisclosed locations in London, Ipswich and Dublin on Monday May 5th where he'll play a host of new material, including his new single 'Sing'.

As per the presser: "Fans across the globe will be able to follow Monday’s journey live as it happens via Ed’s website, as well as his various social media accounts, from 10am this coming Monday. The Dublin show is expected to take place somewhere in the region of 9.30pm."

Where will it be? We haven't been giving any clues as of yet but we imagine it'll be city centre and in a fairly intimate venue. Fans wanting to go to this would be advised to stay central and don't take your eyes off his social media. And bring yer bike!

Ed says: "I'm so happy to have just landed back in the UK and can’t wait to finally play my new songs to my UK and Irish fans for the first time on Monday! To give you a sneak peak of how one of them will sound, I’m posting a brand new track up today that I filmed when I was last in London".

x follows Sheeran's hugely successful 2011 debut +; an album that achieved worldwide sales of over 4 million copies to date. Ed was the recipient of various awards for the record, including 2 Brits, an Ivor Novello and multiple Grammy nominations.

Update: The show will in Vicar Street. Tickets are available now for a tenner via Ticketmaster.
