Remember how sad you were when Warner pulled all its music videos from YouTube last year, and when YouTubeblocked all music videos to the UK to avoid paying fees to the Performing Rights Society. They got all kinds of criticism for failing to give back to the artists that effectively pay their wages. Well, now it looks like YouTube are finally doing something to make it right, by teaming up with Universal Music to launch a music video service featuring content from many of the major label's big name acts.

According to the L.A. Times, YouTube will create a channel on its site called Vevo, dedicated to Universal artists like Weezer, Kanye West, Taylor Swift and more. With YouTube providing the medium and Universal supplying the content, advertising will be sold on the site and the revenue will be split equally between the new partners. Eventually a whole new site, called Vevo.com, will be launched, where YouTube users will be able to access all the Universal videos.

And guess who you have to thank for all this. That's right, the music god himself: Bono. No, seriously, Mr. Hewson was the one who urged Universal Chairman Dough Morris and Google Chief Exec Eric Schmidt to arrange the meeting that brought this development about.
