The Grammy award nominations have been revealed, and this year the shortlist is of special interest for Irish music fans.

Two Irish acts will be making their way to the the 62nd ceremony at Los Angeles's Staples Center on January 26th.

The Cranberries have received their first-ever Grammy nomination for their eighth and final studio album 'In the End', which was released after the untimely death of frontwoman Dolores O'Riordan. The band were working on demos for new songs when she passed away in January 2018, and pieced together the album using those vocal demos.

It's nominated for 'Best Rock Album' alongside records by Bring Me the Horizon, Cage the Elephant, I Prevail and Rival Sons.

Meanwhile, songwriter and solo artist Ruth-Anne Cunningham - who has written or co-written songs for artists including Britney Spears, Niall Horan and One Direction - has also been included in the fray. She co-wrote a track, 'No Place Like Home', on John Legend's 'A Legendary Christmas', which has been nominated in the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. That officially makes her a Grammy-nominated songwriter, as she pointed out on Twitter.

The Dubliner - who released her own solo debut 'Matters of the Heart' this year - signed to Legend's management company last year.
