TV On The Radio's Dave Sitek is in the studio recording with Jane's Addiction. The band are working on the follow up to 2003's 'Strays' with producer Rich Costey (Franz Ferdinand, Muse) and Sitek has reportedly taken the place of former Guns N' Roses bassist Duff McKagan who abandoned the project early on because of "creative differences."

The musician, who recently released his debut solo record under the moniker Maximum Balloon, is also helping to write some of the new bass parts that he'll play on the record, according to Spinner.

Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrell confirmed, "Dave, Steve, and I are fully immersed in the process of making modern music. It has been a great experience thus far, and the results have so much potential."

Meanwhile, guitarist Dave Navarro added "This process has been both inspiring and incredibly freeing. The events over the last year have proven themselves to be a necessary part of the journey as they have led us to our current creative team and direction."

There has been no suggestion that Sitek may become a full time member of the band and reports suggest he is unlikely to join them on tour.
