To say that Donald Trump's tweets, particularly over the last couple of months, have been controversial is to understate the case just a smidge.

However, one thing that has come to light is that at least one of them has been verified as simply not true - and it's related to his inauguration.

So far, teen star Jackie Evancho is the only artist booked for his inauguration on January 20th, which naturally means that he had to big her up on his favourite social media platform.

He tweeted yesterday that her album sales had 'skyrocketed' since she was announced to perform, but several media outlets have checked it out and it's not strictly true to say that.

Most notably, Upworthy writer Parker Molloy pointed out that Evancho's album sales had dropped significantly after an initial spike, which it could be argued may have been attributed to her role in his inauguration, but most likely because it was a Christmas album.

In addition, Billboard say that the album sold 11,000 copies in the week after the announcement, having sold 6,000 the previous week - but then fell to 8,000 copies the following week.

With just 15 days left until his inauguration, Trump's people seem to be struggling to find entertainers to perform at it. In contrast, Beyoncé, Bruce Springsteen and Stevie Wonder are allegedly on board to play at Barack Obama's final White House party.

There's always karaoke, Donald... Or maybe ask Jedward. They'd say yes to anything.
