The family of Amy Winehouse have released a statement following her death. The statement reads: "Our family has been left bereft by the loss of Amy, a wonderful daughter, sister, niece. She leaves a gaping hole in our lives. We are coming together to remember her and we would appreciate some privacy and space at this terrible time."
Elsewhere, several friends and peers of Winehouse have spoken out about her death. Comedian Russell Brand, who himself struggled with addiction in the past, lauded her a a "genius". Others, such as Rihanna and Usher took to Twitter to voice their sympathies for Winehouse's family and fans. Mark Ronson, the music producer who collaborated with Winehouse on many of her hits like Rehab and Love Is A Losing Game, said of her death "she was my musical soulmate and like a sister to me. This is one of the saddest days of my life."
Tony Bennett, one of the last people to work with Winehouse, called her "an artist of immense proportions" and that he was "deeply saddened to learn of her tragic passing".
R 'n' B legend Mary J Blige, the Dap Kings,Kelly Clarkson and Kelly Osbourne were others who paid tribute to Winehouse.
A post-mortem is set to take place on Monday to establish the cause of death.
