Record Store Day takes place in the UK on April 18th to celebrate and support the culture and purpose of independent record shops.

In support of the cause, high profile artists Graham Coxon, Franz Ferdinand, The Stooges, Sonic Youth, Beck, Wilco and Tom Waits are offering rare or unreleased material, which will be pressed into a limited number of exclusive Record Store Day CDs and vinyl releases.

Graham Coxon is to release a limited edition single of 'In The Morning,' and there'll be vinyl re-releases from The Smiths, New Order and The Stooges. Less well known but excellent artists The Kills, Eugene McGuinnes, King Creosote, Jay Reatard and Tortoise are also getting in on the action.

That reminds me, everyone in Dublin should head over to Andrew's Lane tomorrow night for One For The Road: A Road Records Benefit and Celebration to support our own local independent music and the people who help to distribute it.
