Tom Parker, a member of English/Irish boyband The Wanted, has revealed some sad news in a new interview.
The 32-year-old singer, who has also acted in the West End since The Wanted went on hiatus in 2014, has disclosed that he has been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour.
He said that he first collapsed and suffered a seizure in July and was placed on a waiting list for an MRI, but further seizure six weeks later saw him rushed to hospital and diagnosed with a stage 4 glioblastoma - a tumour that can spread aggressively without treatment. Life expectancy for such a diagnosis is 3 to 18 months and he has been undergoing chemotherapy in recent weeks.
To make the whole thing even sadder, his wife Kelsey is due to give birth to their second child next month. Their daughter Aurelia was born in June 2019.
"Hey guys, you know that we’ve both been quiet on social media for a few weeks and it’s time to tell you why. There’s no easy way to say this but I’ve sadly been diagnosed with a Brain Tumour and I’m already undergoing treatment," he said on Instagram this morning. "We are all absolutely devastated but we are gonna fight this all the way. We don’t want your sadness, we just want love and positivity and together we will raise awareness of this terrible disease and look for all available treatment options."
The Wanted are best known for songs like 'Glad You Came' and 'All Time Low', and also featured Dubliner Siva Kaneswaran in their ranks.
