Oscar winning actor Tim Robbins is set to release his debut album at the age of 51, and will be promoting it here in Ireland with The Rogues Gallery Band.

The album, 'Tim Robbins & The Rogues Gallery Band' is set for release in September, which will coincide nicely with performances at Whelan's in Dublin on September 26th (€25) and Belfast's Limelight on September 27th (£19.50).

According to the press release, "Robbins has long written songs and performed in small venues, but has kept it under the radar - until now … With Robbins singing alongside a backing band of multi-instrumentalists, the album features everything from a fiddle and saw to a guest spot from Joan As Policewoman (on ‘Moment in the Sun’), a harmonium, hurdy gurdy, accordion and Cor Anglais.

Robbins has been playing with the Rogues Gallery for some years, and was last seen here in Ireland with them as part of the Analog festival in 2008, a gig which also included appearances from Lou Reed, Teddy Thompson and Ed Harcourt.

Tickets for both shows are on sale now through ticketmaster and usual outlets.
