Musical artist and TikToker Zach Smith, AKA Zach Montana, last month discovered an unreleased song made by his father in his car.

He filmed his reaction (as kids do these days) to it and uploaded it to TikTok without much more thought. However, upon waking up the next day, Smith discovered that the video had gone viral.

Since then, musicians like Herman Li from Dragonforce and Meghan Trainer have voiced their love for 'Surrender To Me'. Even Anthony Fantano, acclaimed internet music critic called it a "banger".

Smith's father, Curly, had quite a successful career as a musician, playing with the likes of Belinda Carlisle, Willie Nelson and Boston.

"It’s just something that’s been sitting on the shelf for years," Curly said about the viral hit in an interview with The Guardian. "[Zach] just discovered it in the car, did a TikTok thing on it, and the rest is history."

"It's a bit of a happy accident. It's music I did a long time ago, so to have it come full circle is really wonderful."

The father and son teamed up to bring the song back into the studio to remaster it for a re-release.

The tune got so popular that it somehow ended up on the table of 'Guardians of the Galaxy' music supervisor Dave Jordan after fans said it would be perfect for it's retro soundtrack. Jordan loved it and told Zach he would pass it on to James Gunn ahead of the third instalment of the franchise.

"We’re huge Marvel fans," Zach says. "We’ve seen all the MCU movies. It's something we've bonded over as father and son, so it's really exciting to think the song could end up in one of the films."
