Can you think of a better way to spend your weekend than in the company of a Chicagoan eight-piece brass ensemble? No? Neither can we.

Consisting of nothing but horns and a drum kit, HBE (as they're affectionately known) fuse hip-hop, jazz, funk, rock and even hints of calypso and gypsie music into a huge, bombastic sound. All of the band's members are sons of Jazz giant Phil Cochran and formerly played under the moniker of Phil Cochran Youth Ensemble.

The brothers have shared a stage with the likes of Mos Def, Erykah Badu, Ghostface Killah, as well as collaborating with Damon Albarn on the third Gorillaz record 'Plastic Beach'.

Hypnotic Brass Ensemble will play two dates this weekend in the Sugar Club - so you have absolutely no excuse to miss 'em. Check out a sample of the goods below.
