If you've ever been to a music festival in Ireland, you know that things can get fairly hairy at times - particularly when everyone has settled into their campsites and are throwing caution to the wind when it comes to social mores.
However, even the most outlandish behaviour you've ever seen at a music festival will pale in comparison to this 'Redneck Rave' that took place in Kentucky last week.
The 5-day event took place in Blue Holler Offroad Park in Edmonson County, Kentucky and was organised by a rapper known as 'Justin Time', who promised 'music, mud and mayhem'.
The first warning signs of trouble, police say, was when they searched the first vehicle entering the festival and found meth, marijuana and an open container of alcohol. “And then one of the occupants had two active warrants," said the local sheriff, via the Lexington Herald-Leader. “We were like ‘well, this doesn’t bode well for the weekend'."
48 people were charged over the course of the event, while one attendee had his throat slit by a purported friend - who has not been found - after an argument. “They were intoxicated, they got into a fight, one of them slit the other one’s throat and then fled into the park,” Sheriff Shane Doyle said.
Another 29-year-old man is accused of strangling a woman after they got into an argument over a blanket, with the victim alleging that he choked her “until she was losing consciousness".
Yet another man suffered a serious injury - albeit an accidental one - when he was impaled while driving his off-road vehicle over a log. The log broke through the floor of the vehicle and impaled the driver in the stomach. "When it tried to come out through his back it was stopped by a steel plate behind his seat,” said Doyle.
Aside from those incidents, one man also severed a finger and several other attendees broke bones, suffered lacerations and dislocated fingers. Miraculously, no one was killed.
So remember, next time you're complaining about that rowdy bunch two tents over who are still partying at 5am at the Electric Picnic campsite... it could be a lot worse.
