The BBC's annual 'Sound Of' poll has turned up mixed results over the years; while music critics and industry experts have hailed the likes of Adele and Ellie Goulding as acts to watch for the coming year, other winners (like last year's Ray BLK) have not been so successful.

However, the winner of the 2018 poll has been announced and you can expect to hear more of Sigrid in the near future.

The 21-year-old Norwegian pop star was chosen as the winning act by the 170-strong panel, beating the likes of Khalid, Superorganism and Lewis Capaldi to the top spot.

Indeed, she's already sold out her forthcoming Dublin show (at The Academy on March 23rd), and her latest track 'Strangers' has clocked up almost 4 million hits in a month.
