15 years after their last performance together The Stone Roses are on the verge of reuniting, according to various reports in today's press. Rumours were rampant over the weekend that Ian Brown and co. would be reforming and those rumours were strengthened when a friend of Brown's said "it's happening", when asked by the Telegraph.

A press release was circulated in the UK on Friday inviting journalists to a "special press conference for a very important announcement". It has also been reported that Guy Garvey, frontman of Elbow, was overheard talking about the reformation of the band during the summer.

The Stones Roses split in 1996 after a series of internal rows but their reputation has remained solid and their 1989 self-titled debut is seen as one of the best British debut albums of the past 30 years.
